About the tour:

Vintage Bastar is an itinerary which has been specially designed for the people who have interest in anthropology. This tour showcases the lifestyle and culture of the tribes of Bastar and gives the visitor an insight to the lives of some of the most primitive societies of the world. Along with the visit to the tribal villages and haats, one can also cover the most famous landmarks of Bastar, the Nature’s splendour Chitrakote Waterfall and the Teerathgarh Waterfall. One also gets chance to see and purchase the famous handicrafts of Bastar.

Day 01 | Delhi/Mumbai – Raipur – Kanker

Arrival Raipur Airport and start for Bastar, the tribal heartland of India by road your first stoppage will be the “The Gateway of Bastar” Kanker Palace Heritage Home Stay (135kms/3hrs). The elegant and stately Kanker Palace, built in 1937 as the residence of the British Agent and at present lived in by the Royal family. On arrival, step into the Lovely Kanker Palace and your host will be Mr. Ashwini Deo from the royal family. Enjoy the time in palace, followed by dinner. Overnight at the Palace.

Day 02| Kanker and around

After early breakfast start to explore Kanker and its rich surroundings. The vicinity of Kanker abounds in sites of tribal life style, natural beauty and archaeological significance. Depending on your interest you can either visit a tribal village or enjoy a short trek to the pre historic rock paintings which are found in this area along with a picnic lunch. Depending on the day of the week you can also visit a local tribal market.  Later, drive back to Palace and enjoy a musical camp fire with traditional tribal dance. Overnight at the Palace.

Day 03| Kanker – Museum – Jagdalpur

After an early breakfast at Palace, start for Jagdalpur (170 kms / 3 hrs). Enroute you will be crossing the Keshkal Valley, through which you ascend the plateau and enter the Bastar region. You can enjoy the breathtaking view of the valley below you from one of the view points in the Keshkal Valley.  On arrival transfer to your resort, check in, enjoy a delicious lunch and relax a bit. Late, visit the Anthropological Museum Of Central India, located in Jagdalpur city and then head back to resort by sunset. Evening is free at  leisure at resort. Dinner  and overnight at resort.

Day 04| Dhurva Village and life style

After breakfast, proceed for a full day excursion to a “Dhurva” village (150 km / 2 Hrs). The “Dhurva” are believed to be the original settlers for this land. They are distinguished for the jewellery they wear. There is an option to trek to a primitive “Dhurva” village if you like. Spend the entire day at the village and enjoy your packed lunch in the village itself. Later in the evening return back to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at the resort in Jagdalpur.

Day 05 | Jagdalpur – Tribal Haat – Jagdalpur

After a relaxed morning and a tasteful breakfast at your hotel, proceed to a tribal “Haat”. A “Haat” is a weekly market. This is a social occasion as well as a market place. The “Haat” has something for everyone – items of daily use like pots and baskets; food items such as dried fish, meat and mahua flowers on wholesale rates; toys for children, bangles and silver jewellery for women. At a “Haat” one can also sample the local brew, get a tattoo or even bet at a cock fight. Later in the evening return back to the hotel.  Explore the local markets in Jagdalpur city on foot. Dinner and overnight at the resort in Jagdalpur.

Day 06 | Jagdalpur – Kanger Valley National Park – Jagdalpur

After an early breakfast start for the Kanger Valley National Park (40 kms / 1 hr). En route visit the Bastar Hill Myna at the Forest School at Jagdalpur. The Bastar Hill Myna is an endangered species and is also the State bird of Chhattisgarh. Arrival, Kanger Valley National Park. First visit the caves with stalactite and stalagmite formations and the visit the refreshing seven tier Teerathgarh waterfalls. Enjoy your picnic lunch at the waterfall. Then start for the Chitrakote waterfalls. Enjoy the mesmerising beauty of the Indian largest waterfall. Later in the evening, return back to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at the resort in Jagdalpur.

Day 07 | Jagdalpur – Raipur

After breakfast check out of your hotel. Visit the Anthropological Museum Of Central India in Jagdalpur city if missed earlier and start back for Raipur. En route visit the handicraft centre at Kondagaon where you can also shop for the artefacts. Then push off for Raipur, on arrival Raipur, transfer to the Airport for your onward flight.  End of our services.

  • Transfers & sightseeing as per mentioned vehicle above with a kilometre limit of 1750 kms.

  • Tour Guide for two days.
  • Above child rate is applicable between age of 6-12 yrs.

Package Cost Does Not Include:

  • Any enroute or extra meals other than mentioned above.
  • Any portage at Airport and Hotels tips, Laundry, Mineral water, Telephone charges and all items of personal nature and meals and drinks not specified in the inclusions.
  • Any services not specifically mentioned in the inclusions.
  • Entrances fees for Boating, Culture Shows and Museum.
  • Honeymoon Suite decoration.
  • Forest entry at Kutumsar caves.
  • A Govt. Service Tax of 5% applicable on the total package cost.

Tour Conditions:

  • The package is applicable only to Indian Nationals.
  • Extra kilometres will be charged as per the current rates of the type of vehicle used.
  • Extra mattress with or without cot will be provided, as per the availability.

  • Children above the age of 12 years will be charged the applicable adult rates.

  • Visit inside Kutumsar cave and Museum is subject to Govt. permission.
  • Anthropology Museum is closed on Saturday & Sunday.

  • The days of the above itineraries can be shifted as per the dates of the tribal haats.
  • The Kutumsar Caves in the Kanger Valley National Park are closed from 30th June till 31st The opening on the given date is subject to the permission of the local forest authorities.
  • The Anthropological Museum at Jagdalpur remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Hence the itinerary will be planned accordingly.
