Overview
It’s difficult not to be mesmerized by Kerala’s idyllic environs, easy going pace and pulsating cultural vibe. The most admirable part of this slim slice of the earth in South India is the tenacity with which locals hold onto their traditions. This is seen in every aspect of your travel to– in the food, architecture, language and art forms. Visually, it is one the most scenic treasures of India that draws thousands to its palm-lined beaches, thick jungles or spice scented hills.
The mind boggles at the variety of experiences for travellers in Kerala. It is a potpourri of green and pale brown with its coastal stretch blanched by the tropical sun and the decidedly lush interiors. The coastal areas graduate mildly to the hills of the Western Ghats, which are rich with biodiversity; a plethora of fascinating flora and fauna keep wildlife enthusiasts engaged. Close to the sea, the backwaters add a touch of serenity, by winding down along villages, making a maze worthy of gliding through.
What to Expect
There can be so much that one can pack in, while visiting Kerala, that even a month doesn’t seem enough. We’ve put together a plan that makes you traverse the essentials but with a different glance. Much of Kerala’s wares are touted loudly in brochures. Places and experiences that are not found in the brochures make way to our itinerary. Think, local festivals, food cooked in local kitchens, backwater cruising in the plushest backwaters, yet mingling humbly with villagers. Most of all, expect to get awestruck by staggering sights that are unique to the state.
