An encounter with the Himalayas
No. of Days: 10
Overview: To be in the company of Himalayas can be extremely overwhelming. They shadow a vast tract of the northen part of the subcontinent. The stunning view of perneially snow-capped mountains and life in the villages that lie at the base can be best experienced in Nepal and Bhutan. This trip takes you through a life altering fortnight into the core of the two countries. You start in Nepal, traversing the heritage loop around Kathmandu and then make your way to the ‘happiest nation of the world’- Bhutan. Here faraway monasteries, markets, city-sqaures and homestays illustrate why exactly is it high on happy quotient.
This trip is great for those travellers who do not see cliff-hanging monasteries as nemesis, but challenges that are good for the soul. Because once you reach the top of craggy cliff-tops, the serenity is immense. Our local guides help you to dig into the legends, stories and local-ness of the different villages, ensuring that you get an insider’s view to the countries. When not being enthralled by local sights, unwind in the atmospheric lodges and hotels. Sign up for a local Bhutanese massage, so you can find spiritual paradise.
What to Expect: From a travel point of you, expect long journeys by road that take you through high passes and exquisite views. It will be difficult to leave the window seat. Prepare for an active tenor to the trip. Short hikes and walks in the villages will take up a handful of days, but there will be ample time to rest and rejuvenate as well. The heritage loop around Kathmandu – Pathan, Bhaktapur and Pashupatinath Temple – is great to kick start the trip. In Bhutan, you’ll find the days fill up with visits to the monasteries, museums, palaces and markets. The only thing that will remain constant is great views.
