Unrivalled beauty in the Bay of Bengal
No. of Days: 7
Overview: Simple pleasures like lying on the beach watching the emerald waters for hours, or being wide-eyed at the thick jungles are hard to encounter. The closest that on can get to paradise from India, is the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Of the archipelago, only the Andamans are accessible to the traveller. They offer unending sandy stretches and a thriving underwater life that can be explored with experts. There are a number of high-end resorts that are ideal for a relaxing holiday. On one side there are plush accommodations and activities, and on the other a profusion of nature that is best explored raw. Far-flung villages along the length of the islands, remote beach strips, limestone caves, hikes and turtle hatcheries are something you can experience on the islands. A two-week trip is ideal to explore the island completely. It will also give you time enough to sign up for a diving course.
What to Expect: Apart from the white sand beaches and crystal clear water, Andaman offers a peek into India’s freedom struggle. The in-famous ‘kalapani’ jail is a poignant addition to the trip. Spend a day in Port Blair to see the museums and the light and sound show of the jail, and then head to other parts of the archipelago for a more relaxing time. Havelock Island is the most famous part of the Andamans, dotted with luxury accommodations and scuba diving opportunities.
